Welcome to the B2B site of the Austrian National Tourist Office UK & Ireland! Our aim is to connect professionals from the UK and Irish travel trade with Austrian tourism suppliers through a variety of channels including online information, trade shows and press events.
The Austrian tourism industry enjoyed a strong year in 2008, as annual visitor arrivals to the country topped 32.6 million, of which 824,000 came from Great Britain. In comparison to guest figures of the previous year, this represents an overall increase of 4.7%. In 2008, arrivals from the Irish Republic increased by 4.7% to 79,900. This trend in positive numbers is expected to continue with Linz being European Capital of Culture 2009 and the 2009 Joseph Haydn bicentennial, both expected to receive heightened media coverage. The new year is also off to a good start as massive early snowfalls provided a solid white base for the best ever start of the 2008/09 winter season in Austria. "December was the best December in the history of Austrian tourism," says federal economic minister Dr. Reinhold Mitterlehner.
