It was here on the shores of Lake Wolfgang that composer Ralph Benatzky created the recognisable melodies of the White Horse Inn operetta, a comedic story of love and lust at an inn in the Salzkammergut region of Upper Austria.

The hotel's popularity with British guests dates back to its successful 651 west end performance run at London's Coliseum which began on April 8, 1931.

This year, the Weissen Rössl (White Horse) Hotel is preparing to host a 'Golden 20's' tribute in honour of Ralph Benatzky and its namesake operetta.

4pm: Wreath laying ceremony at the grave of the honorary citizen Ralph Benatzky on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his death
6:30pm: Dinner in the Scheffel Hall
8pm: Book presentation - 'Im Weissen Rössl - Tracing the steps to its worldwide success'. Musical accompaniment: Salzkammergut Salon Orchestra, opportunity to have your book signed by the author.
9pm: 'Best of Benatzky' - Chansons of the 20's with Judith Genske (voice) and Elnara Ismailova (piano) inthe Michael Pacher House.
