The Dachstein ice palaces are one of the greatest natural wonders of the alps. People from all countries around the world come to see the underground ice in the Dachstein. The Dachstein mammoth cave got its name because of the enormous proportions of their rooms and hallways. 60 km have been explored so far, one kilometer can be discovered by children and adults at the offered tours. The lake Traunsee is after the lake Attersee the second largest lake in the Salzkammergut and the deepest lake in Austria. The railway Schafbergbahn in St. Wolfgang is a popular attraction in the region Wolfgangsee, which offers parents and children a special experience, because the train is nostalgically operated with coal-fired and oil-fired steam locomotives and diesel railcars.
